And the brain, she comes online...

Just in time to dance around expired deadlines on projects. Oh well. There's some perverse kind of pleasure in knowing that things are insane, and that as hard as you're going to be working, you don't have to be the person to deal with it that first day.

That being said, I have work to catch up on still tonight. But it's, thankfully, stuff I can do from home, while chatting online and being distracted.

However, it's too damn hot out to do it while drinking tea. One thing to be said for our freezing cold office.

In other news, I'm sneaking pictures off my camera, finally, now that I have a computer that will deal with them at a reasonably speed.

Office has been getting slowly cleaner over the weekend, brain has been reading new interesting things, and attempting to re-learn French, in amidst everything else. Why, I doesn't know. But the urge struck me.

Medically in need of a beer...

That is my week. I could easily spend the entire weekend catching up on stuff in the office, or catching up on stuff at home. Choices, choices.

Right now, I have beer, and this makes everything okay. Now, I'm going to read Cryptonomicon, write letters, and drink more beer.

Apparently my brother is all nicely moved in with the fabulous J, of the Stitch'n Bitch hostesses. I am glad, and hopefully I'll get more of a chance to talk with him once his computer is all set up and he has Skype again.

That is all.

Crabapple pie for supper.

I crunch out reports. Crunch crunch crunch. I time and stagger the crunching out of reports. It is a beautiful night outside, and all I want to do with it is sleep. Argh!

Really, I should still be at the office, but fuck it. I want really want sleep.

Also, why the hell is *Harry Freaking Potter* the curiculum for English at the University of Saskatchewan? The Hell?

Blustery

Too many things going on. Really, I should be at the office. I should be doing something other than what I'm doing. Either sleeping and getting up early, or doing laundry, or eating and going back to the office.

Instead, I have a computer, and blessedly, something resembling an ambient surrounding temperature of less than 30 degrees. We had a dust storm earlier and it's supposed to thunderstorm later. :)

So I'm listening to music pillaged while James was down here visiting me. I'm contemplating supper, and Sea-Changed (and exactly what the heck Levi figures on doing with it at this point, and how much of it involves input from me), and deciding that I really do need to finish my letters to Girl Pack and ship them off.

I'm also hoping that folks will have many amusing GenCon stories to regale me with when I come visit next.

Now what do I name it?

I now have a computer again. After the old one decided to strike on me without prior declaration, I found a new harddrive for it (generously donated), and gave it to people whose computer is almost half my age.

Now, I have a pretty SONY laptop. It works just wonderfully, and while I still have a bunch of programs to re-install, I'm still cheerfully engaged in the process of catching up on two weeks of internet addiction.

But, my lovely pale portable piece of internety goodness has no name, as of yet. It still needs a soul, a personality. One that will not promise me cake and then shoot at me.

So if any of you have suggestions, please offer them up, and I'll see if anything comes of it.

The thing I swore I would not do

I did.

I broke down. I bought an air conditioner. I swore it was a waste of energy, and only for the weak! I would be environmentally friendly and use less energy.

However. My brain melted. I was useless at home and useless at work, and will be less environmentally protective if I screw something up at work.

Thus, I have an air conditioner. I am pleased. The cats are also pleased.

In other news, when it rains here, it really rains.

There were puddles, during my walk. And by puddles, I mean two blocks of flooded out street. The shallow middle part came nearly to my knees. I was in stompy, gleeful, wet wet heaven.

Drenched is an inadequate term for the state I arrived home in. I can only imagine what I would have come home looking like had I gone stomping during the worst of the holy mother of house-shaking thunderstorms we just had.

I must be good at this...

Four pills. Two cats. I am not bleeding. Success!

There are, however, two *very* angry cats. Anger in spite of tuna is wrath indeed.

Doing better now, sort of. House is out of control, regardless of my best efforts. Tempted to hire a maid. Lazy of me, but very tempting.

Rediscovering books. I know it's just my escapist tendancies re-directing themselves, but that's okay. I haven't done any significant amount of reading in a while, so it's kinda nice.

I invite stories, interesting news tidbits, etc... from people to add variety to my life. Cool new town is starting to get lonely.

Also, I survived the company BBQ, and only put my foot in my mouth a couple times. I think.
